Opportunity: Purchaser |
Purpose: This individual acts as purchasing
agent for goods and services for the company.
Job Responsibilities
- Establish, maintain or terminate business relationships and
contracts for a wide range of vendors and suppliers to support
business needs and goals.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery, and schedules as necessary.
- Support crews by ordering and scheduling material deliveries
in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Anticipate and resolve material needs; continually research
more cost-effective solutions for quality, price and availability.
- Document, track and archive job-specific material orders.
- Analyze, plan and order tree inventory needs biannually.
Principal Problems/Challenges
- Keep abreast of new plant introductions and availabilities.
- Manage diverse business relationships.
- Maintain versatility for frequent schedule revisions; must
be available by phone during unscheduled hours.
Freedom to Act
- Under general direction of Top Management.
- Independently research and interview potential vendors and
suppliers. Make recommendations to Top Management.
Scope
- Broad range of issues, vendors and suppliers.
- Consistently work on multiple projects concurrently.
Work Environment
- Work is primarily at the company headquarters. Uses personal
vehicle for trips to clients and nurseries when necessary. Is
reimbursed per IRS regulations.
- Normal Work is Monday through Friday, 7:30AM - 4:30PM.
- Overtime is generally not necessary.

subcontractors, Landscape Architects and Designers.
Qualifications for the Position
- 3 years of experience in horticulture (large plant palette)
and landscape construction.
- Significant experience using Microsoft Excel.
- Valid Colorado driver's license and social security card.
