Purpose: Uses knowledge of plants, horticultural
best practices, and landscape construction methods to improve
survival rates of plant material. Increase quality of landscapes
installed by company and reduce financial liability for warranty
materials for company. Job Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities
- Audit construction crews for adherence to best practices.
- Represent company, along with Foreman or Project Manager,
at any property walkthroughs/handoffs to third parties.
- Document deviations from appropriate plant care and notify
appropriate parties via telephone, in person, in writing, or
via e-mail.
- Maintain accurate records for sites under warranty. Works
with crews to accomplish warranty replacements and corrections.
- Educate laborers, homeowners, property maintenance personnel
and others as to best practices in horticulture as appropriate.
- Organize & schedule fall & spring tree wrapping projects.
- Organize and execute annual winter water campaign.
- Initiate processes to improve the quality of company jobs
if needed.
Principal Problems/Challenges
- Highly knowledgeable of a broad plant pallet.
- Superior communication skills for effective knowledge transfer
to a diverse audience.
- Many layers of communication are frequently required to obtain
desired results.
Freedom to Act
- Fully accountable for audits during warranty period for landscape
installations.
- Operate independently in process, procedures and schedule
of day-to-day work.
- Report to Top Management.
Scope
- Involved with every project.
- Possess company-wide influence.
- Geographical range in typically the Front Range, Castle Rock
to Loveland, and west to Vail.
Work Environment
- Work is primarily outside, however, a significant amount of
paperwork is involved.
- Overtime is necessary from Spring through Fall.
Contacts
- Company-wide, property managers, site supervisors, maintenance
company personnel, HOA boards, city inspectors, warranty personnel
at construction firms, and owners.
Qualifications for the Position
- Trained horticulturist.
- 3 years experience in gardening, horticulture, or landscaping.
- Valid Social Security card and Colorado driver's license with
clean record for past three years.
- English speaking, bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
